What to bring to your Medicare review.
Insights from David Harder, President · Published
Quick answer: bring your red, white and blue Medicare card, your current plan card, a list of your prescriptions with doses, your doctors and pharmacy, and the Annual Notice of Change letter from your plan. With those in hand, we can compare the plans we represent in one visit.
Which cards should I bring?
Your Medicare card and the card for any plan you have now, such as a Medicare Advantage, Part D or Medicare Supplement plan.
What about my prescriptions?
Bring a list of every medication with the name, dose and how often you take it. Photos of the bottle labels work too. Plans change their drug lists every year, so this is the most important item.
Do I need a list of my doctors?
Yes. Write down your doctors, specialists and any hospital you want to keep, plus the pharmacy you use. We check them against each plan's network.
What is the Annual Notice of Change?
It is the letter your plan mails each fall showing what changes on January 1, such as premiums, copays and covered drugs. Bring it if you have it. If you cannot find it, come anyway.
When should I schedule my review?
Annual Enrollment runs October 15 to December 7, and changes start January 1. Booking earlier leaves time to compare without a deadline rush.
