INDIVIDUAL & FAMILY GUIDE

ACA Open Enrollment starts November 1. Here is your checklist.

Insights from David Harder, President · Published

Quick answer: Open Enrollment for 2027 Marketplace (ACA) health plans in Oklahoma runs November 1, 2026 through January 15, 2027 at HealthCare.gov. Enroll or change plans by December 15 for coverage that starts January 1. Enroll December 16 through January 15 and coverage starts February 1.

What are the key 2027 Open Enrollment dates?

November 1, 2026: Open Enrollment starts. December 15: last day to enroll or change plans for coverage starting January 1. January 15, 2027: Open Enrollment ends, with coverage starting February 1. After that, you need a qualifying life event for a Special Enrollment Period.

What should I gather before I apply?

Your expected 2027 household income, Social Security numbers and dates of birth for everyone applying, current coverage details, employer coverage information if any job offers insurance, and a list of your doctors, prescriptions and preferred pharmacies.

If I already have a Marketplace plan, do I need to do anything?

We suggest reviewing it every year. Premiums, networks, drug lists and any financial help can change for 2027. If you do nothing you may be automatically renewed, but the renewed plan may not be the best fit or price for you.

Is financial help changing for 2027?

Eligibility rules and verification for premium tax credits are being updated for 2027. Update your income and household information on your application so your estimate is accurate, and report changes during the year.

What is changing for 2027 in Oklahoma?

Prices are going up. Oklahoma regulators approved an average increase of about 21.6% for 2027 Marketplace plans, before any financial help is applied. What you actually pay depends on your plan, county and income, so we suggest comparing again this year.

The carrier list changed. Medica is leaving the Oklahoma Marketplace for 2027. If you have a Medica plan today, you will need to choose a new plan during Open Enrollment. The 2027 Oklahoma Marketplace carriers are Ambetter, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, CommunityCare, Oscar and UnitedHealthcare.

Estimate your income carefully. Starting with tax year 2026, there is no longer a cap on how much of your premium tax credit you may have to repay if your actual income ends up higher than your estimate. An accurate income estimate, updated when things change, helps you avoid a surprise at tax time.

Check your doctors and prescriptions. Networks and drug lists can change from year to year, even if you keep the same carrier. Before you enroll, make sure your doctors, hospitals and medications are covered by the 2027 plan.

Which carriers offer individual plans in Oklahoma?

For individual and family coverage we work with CommunityCare, Blue Cross and Blue Shield of Oklahoma, UnitedHealthcare, Oscar and Ambetter. Plan availability varies by county.
